Emre Erbirer

Founder

Emre is a generalist with extensive knowledge on many subjects and expertise in a few. He is a culture manager, program curator, community builder, learning designer, facilitator, and writer. He designs and runs projects and programs focused on the creative economy, cultural policies, and cultural management.

Between 2008 – 2022, he has worked at leading cultural institutions and creative organizations, such as Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, Doğuş Publishing Group, GQ, and ATÖLYE; and focused on communication, audience development, community building, programming, and project management. In 2015, he founded kültür.limited, an independent platform for cultural professionals and led this platform until 2023.

In 2023, Emre founded Espas, a cultural management consultancy company, and co-founded Culture Unleashed, an initiative to empower individuals, communities, organizations, and ecosystems in the cultural and creative industries. Emre also teaches Marketing and Audience Development for Arts & Culture as a part-time lecturer since 2017, and continues his community building and programming efforts by hosting CreativeMornings Istanbul.

Emre served UNESCO as a member of the Specialized Committee on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions Sub-Working Group at 2023, where he has worked on the research and strategy development for the digitalization of the cultural and creative industries. He is a member of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA), International Council of Museums (ICOM), European Network of Cultural Centres (ENCC). He also serves as an Advisory Board Member of Quick Art Space.

His articles on cultural management, cultural policies and popular culture have been published in media such as Aposto, Argonotlar, ArtDog Istanbul, Calling, Cumhuriyet, Gazete Duvar, Istanbul Art News, GQ, T24, Vogue, and Zero. His papers have appeared in publications such as the Cultural Policy Yearbook, New Media Studies, and The European Network on Culture Management and Policy Yearbook.
